WHAT:
The Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance, the organisation responsible for
Australias largest defence project, has joined forces with the Department of
Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST), TAFE
SA, and the Defence Teaming Centre to provide an innovative new method
of developing a skilled workforce for the $8 billion Air Warfare Destroyer
Project. Results of the program will be on display including model speedboats
and one-person dinghies built by the students.

Background:
The Defence Industry Pathways Program (DIPP) engages students in hands-on activities that
have a strong link to the defence industry, particularly the Air Warfare Destroyer Project. By
increasing secondary school students involvement in training programs related to
shipbuilding skills, the AWD Alliance hopes to lead them on to rewarding careers within the
AWD Project and other South Australian defence projects.
