Entries close soon for Premiers Summer Reading Challenge
Thousands of Western Australian children who spent the holidays devouring as many books as
possible for the Premiers Summer Reading Challenge have until February 15 to get their entries in.
Reading Challenge Coordinator Kathryn Anthony said children and parents needed to drop their entries
in to their local public library or post them to the Department of Education by the closing date to be
eligible for the prize draw.
There are hundreds of prizes on offer including a family trip to Broome valued at up to $6,000 from
QBE Insurance, books from Fremantle Press and Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 merchandise, Ms Anthony
said.
She said the Challenge had been a fantastic way for children to immerse themselves in reading, and
develop a love for stories and learning.
The Challenge also included a number of sessions with childrens authors at local libraries, which were
very popular, she said.
Visit det.wa.edu.au/readingchallenge for more information about the Challenge.
The Premiers Summer Reading Challenge is for children from Kindergarten to Year 7, including home-
schooled children.
The Challenge is supported by sponsors QBE Insurance, Fremantle Press and Walt Disney Studios,
Motion Pictures Australia.
