Skills and thrills on offer at Expo
Teaching staff can buff their skills with a smile at the RMIT University Learning and
Teaching Expo.
This is Tomorrow Calling: Teaching for the 21st Century will run all day on
Wednesday, 26 November, in central Melbourne.
Comedian and RMIT sessional lecturer in Creative Media, Tim Ferguson, will get
the show on the road.
Program highlights include:
A panel discussion on Gen Y U dnt no me
A debate on The single most effective thing that RMIT could do to improve
learning is to ban PowerPoint
The launch of the new Learning and Teaching web site
Brief presentations by recipients of Learning and Teaching Investment
Fund grants on their progress and successes
Workshops on aspects of learning and teaching skills
Information stalls and displays
The winner of the student design an RMIT tie competition
RMIT Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Jim Barber, said: The Expo
is a significant event recognising and showcasing learning and teaching at RMIT.
This is an exciting and engaging way for RMIT lecturers and teachers to get new
skills or pick up fresh insights.
RMITs new Learning and Teaching website will be launched at the Expo. It
includes guides on the very practical elements of teaching, featuring easily
accessible examples, information, tips and other resources.
Videos in which RMIT teachers demonstrate their practice and share reflections
are a highlight.
