Clean energy jobs set to explode thanks to new Government policy
Young Australians are the big winners from a new State Government policy that will
spark an explosion in clean energy jobs, said Unions NSW Secretary Mark Lennon today.
Under the new changes to feed-in tariffs, homeowners will be paid for 100 per cent of
the renewable energy they produce.
This will mean a boom in demand for solar panels and similar technology and more
importantly, the people that produce and install them.
This is one of the most important announcements we've seen in terms of clean energy
jobs by any Australian government, Mr Lennon said.
Apprentices across the trades ought to be celebrating, because their job prospects have
just improved significantly.
Union have advocated fiercely for the policy, which will bring certainty to the industry
and give business the confidence to invest.
Importantly, it will also help the State make the transition to a low carbon economy.
While the coalition parties dither and harbour climate change sceptics, Labor is getting
on with the job,' Mr Lennon said.
Nathan Rees' Government deserves congratulation.
