ADVICE TO NEWS EDITORS
FROM KEDDIES LAWYERS:
STATEMENT:
The article published in today’s Sydney Morning Herald relating to Keddies
Lawyers contains false allegations which have been made by former disaffected
employees of the firm.
Keddies has instructed its lawyers to immediately commence legal action
against the newspaper for defamation.
Any republication or broadcast of the allegations contained in the Sydney
Morning Herald article by any other media outlet may result in further
proceedings.
BACKGROUND:
The former employees who have made the allegations were dismissed in late
2006. They have been orchestrating a campaign against the firm since that
time.
The allegations contained in the article have already been referred to the Office
of the Legal Services Commissioner. To date, each complaint that has been
dealt with has been dismissed. There are still some cases to be finalised.
