The Bellarine comes to Federation Square

Experience the live music, winery cellar doors, local produce and learn about great marine

experiences in Port Phillip Bay including diving the HMAS Canberra at the Bellarine Beach Party, a

special free event at Federation Square on February 28.


Just an hour’s drive from Melbourne, The Bellarine is a scenic bayside region nestled around Port Phillip

Bay including Barwon Heads, Portarlington and the historic town of Queenscliff. 


Come and discover the many attractions that make this stunning region one of Victoria’s most beloved

holiday destinations. 


Highlights include:


The Blues Train (Queenscliff) presents live music performances (11am – 4pm) sit back and enjoy

live music from Jimi Hocking and Mojo Webb, two regular performers from the legendary Blues Train, one

of the most unique and popular attractions in the region (www.thebluestrain.com.au). Running between the

months of August and May, the Blues Train offers a night of dinner and entertainment aboard an authentic

steam train.


Port Phillip Bay on display - Discover why Queenscliff is one of Victorian’s most beloved bayside

playgrounds. Learn more about Victoria’s newest diving attraction the HMAS Canberra, touch marine

creatures and environments in a special interactive exhibit from the Queenscliff Marine Discovery Centre,

and find out more about marine adventure activities in the bay such as snorkelling, scenic touring, fishing,

swimming with dolphins or Australian fur seals.


Savour the flavours of the Bellarine Taste Trail

The Bellarine Taste Trail is a new self guided gourmet trail comprising of 32 operators including local food

producers and farm-gates, provedores, restaurants, cellar doors and accommodation. Bellarine Taste Trail

experiences on offer at Federation Square include:



Seven ‘cellar doors’ Enjoy free wine tasting of the region’s distinct cool climate wines from

award winning boutique wineries. Wineries on site will include Leura Park Estate, Bellarine Estate

and Oakdene Vineyards. If a wine takes your fancy you can buy a bottle to take home. With many

Bellarine wineries selling only to restaurants or at the cellar door, this is a rare opportunity to taste

and pick up product normally only available in region. 



Beer Tasting sample beer from the Bellarine Brewing Company, the only microbrewery on the

Bellarine. Sample their Port Pilsner, the Queenscliff Ale or the Mussel Stout, their infamous,

flavoursome stout brewed with Portarlington's Australian Blue Mussels.



Farmgates come to you Sample the wares from Lighthouse Olive Grove and Mason’s Creek

Olive Grove. You will also be able to taste fresh blueberries and a range of jams and other berry

delights from the Tuckerberry Hill Blueberry Farm, celebrating the opening of their new café and

berry shop. And try abalone at Bellarine Estate, which serves as ‘farmgate door’ for many loca

producers in the area.
