tourism industry.

It is open to people who can demonstrate their leadership ability and

commitment to the future of the tourism industry.

Destination Melbourne and supported by Tourism Victoria, City of

Melbourne and Tourism Alliance Victoria.

‘Melbourne is a great place to visit, but we have to keep looking for new

ways of doing things. This program will support the future development of

the industry in Greater Melbourne.’  Observed Mr Buckingham

The MTILP is based on the Gippsland Tourism Industry Leadership

Program and customised to suit the specific needs of the Melbourne

Tourism Sector. Mr Buckingham said: ‘Gippsland demonstrated the value

of building leadership capability on a regional level. We are working with

their support to build a unique program for Melbourne.’

Mr Buckingham said: ‘Our focus is on sustainability, innovation and

entrepreneurship. It is a great opportunity for personal development. If

we can help the right people develop their individual leadership skills we

are ensuring good succession planning for the tourism sector.’

The program runs between April and October. It involves 10 full-days of

workshops including a mid-year reflection and review, as well as two

‘residentials’ at the beginning and conclusion of the program.
