Caravan and camping expo starts today at Penrith Panthers

Family plans for the summer holidays are beginning to shape at this time of year.

But with the recent media hype around interest rates and petrol prices there may
be some families who are more cautious with their disposable income.

The Aussie tradition of a caravan and camping holiday is one which presents a range of holiday options to suit every traveller's comfort and budget. Australians can find out more about where to spend a relaxing caravan and camping holiday this summer at the annual Penrith Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo which starts today.

The Penrith Expo is a FREE event (open 9am to 5pm) held at Penrith Panthers
(Mulgoa Road, Penrith) from 12-14 September 2008, featuring over 150 exhibitors
displaying the latest models of:
* caravans
* motorhomes
* camper trailers
* 5th wheelers and slide ons
* camping equipment and tents
* 4WD products and accessories
* tourist destinations and holiday park displays

The Penrith Expo is now in its 11th year and considered one of Western Sydney's best leisure shows, attracting crowds of some 25,000 enthusiastic caravanners and campers for pre-summer sales.

For more information, on the Penrith Expo visit www.penrith.supershow.com.au or call the Expo hotline on 1902 220 299 (call costs apply).

Caravan and camping tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in Australia which contributes $6.5 billion to the Australian economy annually and sees around 80,000 caravanners touring on an extended trip around Australia at any one time.

"It's the freedom of touring 'out-there' at your own pace and the camaraderie of the people you meet with similar interests which makes caravan and camping holidays so appealing to many Australians," said Mr Barry Baillie, CEO, Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW.

"Many caravan and holiday parks are often in prime locations and offer a range of accommodation options and quality facilities to suit all comforts and budgets."

Caravan and holiday parks across NSW and Australia offer three to five star cabin accommodation often in prime locations with high quality comforts; powered sites for caravan, camper trailer and motorhome tourers; and un-powered sites for those who are comfortable with simple surrounds in a camping tent.
