Caravan and Camping Getaways a Popular Choice for Holidays at Home
Caravan and camping tourism is the fastest growing domestic tourism sector in Australia and one that is leading the resurgence for tourism across the nation, according to the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA).
Barry Baillie, CEO of the CCIA, said that the appeal of caravan and camping holidays is the breadth of choice for travellers in relation accommodation options and destinations and all to suit a range of budgets.
"Unlike other tourism sectors which have suffered in visitation over the past year, caravan and camping tourism has experienced increased interest from first time campers as well as avid enthusiasts looking for more affordable getaways."
"Caravan and camping holidays offer something for every budget from five star luxury park cabins through to travel in a quality caravan or motorhome or enjoying getting back to nature by staying in a tent."
"Industry research tells us that 87 percent of Australians have stayed in a caravan park at least once. The camaraderie and true 'Aussie' experiences that you have as you travel the state and country is truly unique to caravan and camping getaways," said Mr Baillie.
With more Australians choosing to holiday at home, the CCIA predicts strong visitor attendance at the upcoming South Coast Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo from 6 to 8 November at Mackay Park in Batemans Bay.
"Now in its 8th year, the South Coast Expo continues to be a popular event each year which attracts some 13,000 visitors to browse over 150 exhibitors for a range of pre-summer holiday sales," said Mr Baillie.
"With the abolition of stamp duty on caravans, camper trailers and 5th wheelers in NSW taking effect as of 1 July this year, travellers can save up to $1,000 or more on these products right at the South Coast Expo," said Mr Baillie.
The South Coast Expo will feature exhibitors displaying the latest models of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, campervans, 5th wheelers, camping equipment and tents, 4WD products and accessories, holiday destinations and tourist parks, and more for the avid traveller to browse and buy.
The South Coast Expo will be open 9am-5pm daily with free parking and entertainment for the entire family. Visit www.southcoast.supershow.com.au for more information.
