Jetstar increases Tasmanian services

for summer school holidays

Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar has boosted its Tasmanian domestic services in time for the

Christmas and summer holiday peak period due to high customer demand.

Currently operating 74 weekly interstate return services combined from Hobart and Launceston to the

Australian mainland, Jetstar will offer an additional 6 weekly return flights to its base operating schedule

to provide 80 weekly return peak period frequencies for the Tasmanian market.

During the months of January and March 2010 (2 January – 31 January and 1 March – 27 March)

Jetstar will expand its existing 4 times weekly Brisbane-Launceston A320 service to a daily direct

offering with its A320 fleet.

Jetstar’s 28 weekly (or 4 times daily) return Melbourne-Hobart service will also similarly grow by a further

3 weekly return flights over a similar period (18 December 2009 – 31 January 2010 and 1 March – 27

March) via an additional morning service, in total offering over 2100 new seats during the peak holiday

season to support Tasmanian tourism and provide greater access for its residents.

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan said the airline would consider further extension of these

services pending demand levels and by reviewing future opportunities for its Tasmanian operations.

“The strength and appeal of brand Tasmania as a fun, unique and affordable holiday destination

continues to improve,” Mr Buchanan said.

“As a major contributor to Tasmanian tourism with our high frequency, low fare services into and from

the state we remain committed to support the industry during its most important annual travel period.”

Jetstar backs all of its flights to and from Tasmania with the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee*, which

means when booking on Jetstar at a similar date and time the airline will beat any competitor by 10 per

cent. (*Conditions apply – see Jetstar.com).

Jetstar every day one way web fares (JetSaver Light) are available from $69 between Melbourne-Hobart

and $149 between Brisbane-Launceston at Jetstar.com.
