Melbourne Leisurefest boasts another huge success

Melbourne Leisurefest boasted another successful

show in 2009, with attendance up by 15 per cent over

the inaugural event last year.

A total of 32,401 patrons attended the four-day event

at Sandown Racecourse, which featured caravans,

RVs, four-wheel-drives, boats and all the associated

equipment and accessories.

Leisurefest chairman Peter Wright said patrons defied

the global financial crsis with their high attendance

and strong sales reported by exhibitors.

“The numbers definitely confirm the strength of

adding boats and four-wheel-drives to the previous

Leisurefest formula of caravans, campers and RVs,”

he said.

“Attendance this year was 31 per cent higher than it was in 2007, the year before we added boats

and four-wheel-drives.

“People weren’t just coming for a look either – they were taking advantage of good deals and the

latest products on offer.

“Most exhibitors reported steady sales and quality enquiries across the full range of vans, trailers,

boats, four-wheel-drives and accessories, so it was a great success all round.”
