NRMA Supports Canberra Home & Leisure Show
Wednesday 21 October 2009: NRMA Motoring & Services' Mobile Member Centre will deliver important road safety concepts to the thousands of visitors at the 2009 Canberra Times Home & Leisure Show at the Exhibition Park this weekend.
NRMA Director Alan Evans said the Canberra Times Home & Leisure Show, this 23, 24 and 25 October is a perfect opportunity to reinforce important road safety concepts and support the caravan, camping and 4WD industries.
"The Home & Leisure Show is a great event to promote the importance of road, vehicle and driver safety through interactive crash test videos and a range of online road safety activities," Mr Evans said.
"Entry to the show is free for children under 16 years and visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about the NRMA's Share the Roads campaign, which encourages more driver awareness in the vehicles around them.
"We would like drivers of all vehicles to think more about sharing the roads with heavy vehicles like caravans, 4WD's and trucks - There will be double the trucks on our roads by 2020 and triple by 2050.
"Roads are getting busier and drivers need to be far more courteous to each other and allow extra time planning trips.
"Visitors to the Show will also be able to find out more about NRMA's Safer Driving School in the ACT and the benefits of lessons for both younger and older drivers.
"Show-goers will also appreciate the range of travel products and options for both international and domestic destinations including NRMA's five Holiday Parks throughout NSW and the Gold Coast."
Mr Evans said the NRMA's participation at events such as the Canberra Home & Leisure Show would not be possible without the support of its partners in road safety, Volvo Trucks and Subaru.
The NRMA's Mobile Member Centre will be on display at the Canberra Home & Leisure Show from this Friday 23 Sunday 25 October 2009, 10:00am-5:00pm. Location: Exhibition Park, Canberra. (Parking is available on Flemington Road beside the Quokka Pavilion and via the Shell Service Station. Parking is free.)
