Penrith Caravan and Camping Expo Sets The Pace For Domestic Holidays

The Penrith Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo which starts today at Penrith Panthers will showcase the best of domestic touring holidays from 11 to 13 September 2009.

With more Australians choosing domestic holidays, it has never been a better time to get involved in caravan and camping holidays which continue to be the best value for money getaways.

Barry Baillie, CEO of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA), says that caravan and camping holidays are leading the resurgence for domestic tourism.

"Caravan and camping tourism has been the fastest growing domestic tourism sector in Australia for some years now."

"Touring holidays give you the flexibility to travel when you want while still having all the comforts of home with many caravans and motorhomes including modern conveniences such as showers and toilets, entertainment systems and large dining and sleeping areas," said Mr Baillie.

"The Penrith Expo will showcase over 150 exhibitors displaying the latest models of recreational vehicles on the market."

"Visitors can even plan their holiday right at the show with a range of holiday destinations and caravan park displays to browse."

Caravanning holidays are tipped to lead domestic tourism with reports of increased caravan registrations since the abolition of stamp duty on 1 July 2009.

Figures from the NSW Government reveal that from 1 July, caravan registrations in NSW have jumped 33 per cent, saving NSW travellers almost $1 million in stamp duty tax in just two months.

"The abolition of stamp duty on caravans, camper trailers and 5th wheelers in NSW is great news for the general touring public as it frees up extra cash for tourers to spend while on holiday," said Mr Baillie.

The touring resurgence is expected to be reflected in attendance figures at the Penrith Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo at Penrith Panthers this weekend.

"We hope to see some first time campers and even the avid touring enthusiasts at the Penrith Expo this weekend. It's the perfect event for Australian families to visit to start thinking about a domestic touring holiday."

The Penrith Expo will be open 9am-5pm daily with FREE admission and free parking.
