Three Hilton Hotels in Melbourne Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement

with Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau

Hilton Hotels in Melbourne have signed a

strategic partner membership agreement with the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau

(MCVB) to assist in promoting Melbourne as the key destination for business events in Australia.

From the 1st

January 2009,

Hilton on the Park, Hilton Melbourne Airport and the soon-to-be

opened Hilton Melbourne South Wharf will work alongside the MCVB to share expertise to drive

business events to Melbourne.


Mr Ashley Spencer, Vice President Hilton Hotels Australasia was thrilled with the signing and

commented “Hilton Hotels has invested heavily in Melbourne and we view the city as one of

Australia’s, if not the world’s, premier business events destinations. We recognise and support

the extraordinary work the MCVB do to put Melbourne on the map and we look forward to

working closely with them to make the city the first choice for business events.

Hilton Melbourne Airport

Hilton Melbourne Airport has 16 state of the art meeting and conference rooms that are popular

with corporations, meeting planners and event organisers. Meeting attendees can fly in to

Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport, step straight off the plane and straight into their meeting or

conference.  The cost of time and travel is dramatically reduced as attendees do not have to

travel to other destinations after arriving and local meeting participants can travel easily on the

connecting freeways and park with no fuss.


Spread over six floors the Hilton Melbourne Airport is Australia’s first genuine on-airport hotel with

direct pedestrian access to both the domestic and international terminals via covered walkways.


The 276 deluxe guest rooms command sweeping views of the city, hinterland and the airport,

feature in-room flight information, broadband access and levels of comfort rarely seen in an

airport location.  The hotel also includes Café Airo and Bar 

Airo, fully equipped gymnasium featuring a heated indoor pool, spa, sauna and steam room.  A

fully serviced Business Centre is available on the dedicated Hilton Meetings floor.


Hilton on the Park – Melbourne

After an investment of $40 million and 12 months work the refurbishment of the Hilton on the Park

- Melbourne is now complete. All 419 guest rooms and suites have been revitalised with a new

look featuring neutral tones, comfortable new bedding and furnishings, flat screen TVs and high

speed internet access.  


The dedicated Conference and Events floor, which was closed for refurbishment from mid

December 2007 and reopened 1st May 2008, has been given a sleek new look with stylish décor

and state-of-the-art lighting and AV technology. Two new Boardrooms and a Business Centre

have also been added to the floor.  The twelve event rooms are versatile and include private

boardrooms for smaller meetings and the magnificent Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up

to 1000 guests. A selection of rooms offer natural light and picturesque views of the city skyline

and the Fitzroy Gardens.


Hilton Melbourne South Wharf

Hilton and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) are set to deliver a

contemporary conference offering to meet the needs of the small to medium meetings and events

market.

This new level of conference facilities will enable Hilton Melbourne South Wharf to

provide hotel residential and day guests with direct access to the MCEC’s state-of-the-art new

conference, events and meeting facilities combined with the renowned world-class service and

facilities that business travellers have come to expect from Hilton hotels.


The ‘South Wharf Meetings and Events’ service will make booking the MCEC for small and

medium sized meetings and events a simple one-step process. This service will be provided in

addition to a number of meeting and events packages offered by the new hotel including day

delegate packages. 


The Hilton Melbourne South Wharf and the MCEC are uniquely located on the edge of the Yarra

River and within close proximity to the heart of the CBD and the arts and sporting precincts of

Melbourne..
