Schoolies Week More Important To Students Than

Getting Good VCE Results Says VCE Expert.

Melbourne November 25, 2008  Most schoolies have it all wrong says a leading VCE expert -- far too

many are focused on the end of year celebration rather than getting VCE grades that would open doors

for them for years to come.

Daniel Dobos a leading VCE expert says schoolies week highlights a major problem with students’

priorities. While events like schoolies are meant to be celebration for years of hard study and completing

school, they have morphed into a major distraction for some.  Many students now plan and save up for

months to have the money to spend on schoolies week. While Dobos says it’s great to celebrate the end

of school, far too many spend their time and money focused on the wrong priorities.

Dobos says “Only about 2,500 achieve a score of 95 or above. The other 45,000 fail to achieve higher

scores because they aren’t properly prepared with the right study 00techniques. As a result they lower

their standards.”

Just a few years ago, Dobos nearly washed out of high school despite spending almost 3 hours a night

studying hard. That was before a friend shared with him some little known memory strategies and study

techniques that changed his life forever. So successful were the techniques that Dobos went from

posting failing grades to achieving an ENTER score of 99.25%, and becoming a #1 award winner in

International Law at Melbourne University in 2001.

“VCE Success is actually much easier than people imagine” say Dobos. “It can all be summed up in one

sentence. Know the rules”. “It is because students don’t know or have never learned these rules that they

fail” continues Dobos.

From Dobos' point of view, many students see themselves as “not smart” or that other people are

somehow gifted. Nothing could be further from the truth. The reality is that highly successful students

use better strategies to memorise, understand and recall information. He believes that nearly every

student’s academic potential is extraordinary once they have been taught how to unscramble the rules of

studying.

Dobos shares the same advice he was given in his free VCE Success seminar and says almost any

student, regardless of their current ability can achieve high VCE scores of 90 or more. “It worked for me

and it’s worked with hundreds of students I taught the same skills to since.”
