Canada and Australia Public Policy Initiative Retreat
1 & 2 February 2010

The Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) is one of the few educational institutions in the world that can claim to be unique. ANZSOG is dedicated to promoting outstanding public sector leadership and policy that really works for the benefit of the public.

To compliment the core executive level programs, executive workshops, research and case studies, ANZSOG works with state and federal governments in providing unique events to the public sector.

ANZSOG will be hosting the two day Canada and Australia Public Policy Initiative (CAPPI) Retreat in Sydney on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 February, 2010. The CAPPI Retreat is an initiative of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

The primary aim of the CAPPI retreat is to encourage senior officials from a broad cross section of all national government departments to an "exchange of knowledge and experience and to develop working relationships between Australia and Canada".

The retreat is structured around a series of four topics identified in collaboration between representatives of the partner countries:

1. Public Sector Renewal and Reinvigoration
2. Global Economic Crisis: challenges of exit and recovery; recognising the social dimensions
3. Facing Climate Change after Copenhagen: issues of the Environment, Energy, Industry, Trade &
Diplomacy;
4. Building our Future Workforce: Labour, Immigration, Education, & Security.

The CAPPI Retreat will include eight chief executives from the Canadian Government and eleven chief executive officers from the Australian Government.
