Carrick and Hunter TAFE create joint venture

Carrick Higher Education Pty Ltd and Carrick Institute of Education signed a Memorandum of

Understanding (MOU) with Hunter TAFE, New South Wales yesterday enabling students to

cross credit their studies between the two institutes.


For the institutes, the MOU is a collaboration of the public and private education sector that

stands to enhance the provision of quality accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET)

and Higher Education.


From today students of Hunter TAFE will be able to articulate into the Carrick degree,

Bachelor of Business (Hospitality and Tourism Management). Hunter TAFE students who

have completed an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management can obtain advanced

standings to complete the Bachelor of Business in nine months. 


The articulation is open to both domestic and international students.


The MOU has been in the pipeline since November 2008 under the direction of Sanjeev

Singh, Executive Director of Campus Operations of Carrick. Mr Singh states that the joint

venture with Hunter TAFE means Carrick will be across any significant industry developments

both in the public and private sector, reinforcing Carrick’s commitment to quality education

and training. 


Talks are currently in progress with the Academic teams of Carrick and Hunter TAFE to also

develop a joint program that combines hospitality, tourism and events units. Carrick and

Hunter TAFE will deliver the new course together.


The joint venture is the first of its kind for Carrick and an exciting prospect for students. It

means students will have greater scope in their qualification including the opportunity to study

viticulture and wine making.
