Life Education launches drug awareness program and new mobile learning centre in
Castle Hill
Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Training, Mrs Karyn Paluzzano, will launch the newly
refurbished Hills/Parramatta Life Education Mobile Learning Centre and a new national medicines
awareness program, Mind Your Medicine,
on Tuesday 7 April 2009 at the Castle Hill Primary
School.
Mrs
Paluzzano will be joined by Alex Hawke, MP, Federal Member for Mitchell and Councillor
Larry Bolitho, Mayor of The Hills Shire Council at the launch as well as the Hon Alan Cadman,
Chairman of Life Education NSW and Jay Bacik, CEO, Life Education Australia.
The newly refurbished Mobile Learning Centre will aid Life Education in teaching local children to
respect their bodies, be healthy and active and to make wise choices in life through drug and
alcohol education.
The Mind Your Medicine program, launched at the event, will deliver vital drug education to
students across Australia. The program teaches primary students in their fourth and fifth year of
schooling about medicines, classifying legal drugs, effective communication skills and friendship.

In its 30th year of community service, Life Education targets the health education needs of
children from Kindergarten to Year 6, and also educates secondary students and parents.
A public meeting is also being held that evening at The Hills Shire Council Chambers, Showground
Road, Castle Hill at 7.30pm. The aim of the meeting is to provide further information on the
services provided by Life Education, and to discuss the formation of a new Hills Life Support
Group to help raise the profile of Life Education in the community.
