STATEMENT FROM THE VRQA REGARDING COLLEGE CLOSURE
5
November, 2009
Lynn Glover, Director of the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority
(VRQA), issued the following statement in relation to the announcement that the Global
Campus Management Group Pty Ltd has appointed PPB as administrators.
Today the VRQA was advised by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment
and Workplace Relations that Global Campus Management Group Pty Ltd had been placed
under voluntary administration.
Global Campus Management Group is the owner of four registered education and training
organisations in Victoria delivering school and vocational education and training to
approximately 2000 international students.
In Victoria it operates a senior secondary school (Meridian International School Pty Ltd), and
three vocational training colleges - Meridian International Hotel School Pty Ltd; International
Design School Pty Ltd and International College of Creative Arts Pty Ltd.
The first concern of the VRQA is the welfare of the students. The immediate priority is to
ensure that students currently undertaking their VCE examinations experience no disruption.
The VRQA has sent senior staff to the secondary school today to ensure that all VCE
examination papers are secured and that students are properly briefed on the situation and
where they will be undertaking their examinations.
PPB has been appointed as Administrators. The VRQA will be meeting with PPB as a matter
of urgency to manage the continuity of education and training of all students affected.
Students and staff have been informed of the decision to close today. The VRQA will ensure
that students rights are protected.
