Take a hands on approach to your Career in Hospitality and
Tourism

Year 12 students can now relax again, after weeks of revelling in the sun and enjoying a life away from

the pressure of school and exams, thousands of year 12 high school students were anxiously waiting for

their University and TAFE offers published in early January.



The anticipation was palpable across Australia as students trawled through newspapers to find their

offers. However, with a 6.4 percent increase in tertiary applications, over 20,000 applicants will not be

offered a place into their preferred university or TAFE option this year and will find themselves at a cross

roads, having to make decisions about their future all over again.1



It sounds like a daunting prospect. Yet, there is a road less travelled.



Enter Carrick Higher Education's degree program, Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Hospitality) that

focuses on practical industry experience as well as business theory from industry professionals.



Carrick Higher Education's degree program equips students with the necessary skills and work

experience to be fully equipped to enter their chosen career giving them an edge over other applicants.

Carrick Higher Education's inaugural class has just celebrated their achievements with a graduation

ceremony in Melbourne this week, and are set to embark on their chosen careers with Carrick Higher

Education degrees under their belts.



International student Yeming Mao's goal is to make his mark in the Chinese tourism industry. He says

there is huge opportunity in tourism and plans to work at the new Disneyland opening in Shanghai.



Purnima Nadipalli, is currently working for MUOSS and plans to stay in Melbourne to develop her career

within the university. Purnima says that the business skills she has learnt helped her to secure her role

at the university.



Carrick Higher Education was launched after overwhelming demand from both local and international

students for a degree program in tourism and hospitality. The launch was driven by Carrick Institute of

Education's reputation for providing quality vocational courses for the past 21 years. Carrick Higher

Education is recognised as a formal degree qualification and students are able to take on further post

graduate study with other Universities.
