SCHOOLS ACROSS VICTORIA TO BENEFIT FROM HEARING LOSS
PREVENTION PROGRAM
As part of its endeavour, the Victorian Deaf Society (Vicdeaf) is developing a
classroom kit to assist teachers and parents in helping to promote safe use of
in-ear and other music systems.
The Staff Community Fund of the Commonwealth Bank Group has awarded
the project $10,000 to assist in this process, and the information will start to
flow with the commencement of school in 2010.
We understand that one in six people presently suffer hearing problems in
Australia and this number is growing rapidly and forecast to reach one in four
Australians by 2050*. We need to do everything we can to help children and
young people minimise the risk of unnecessary hearing problems said David
Virtue, Manager of the Collingwood branch of the Commonwealth Bank as he
presented the cheque to Vicdeaf at Collingwood College this morning.
