Witnesses to Melbourne Airport assault sought

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking witnesses to a serious assault at

Melbourne Airport’s Qantas domestic check-in hall on Wednesday 17

December 2008.

The incident occurred around 4pm, when a 43-year-old man was assaulted by

another man, leaving him with extensive head injuries.

The victim spent several days unconscious in hospital as a result of the attack.

The AFP hopes someone will remember the incident, which took place during a

busy holiday period when many people were making their way through the

airport terminal.

A

European male described as being of solid build with dark coloured hair,

possible tattoos and who was wearing a bright orange baseball cap and a dark

tee-shirt is understood to be able to assist the AFP with its enquiries.

The AFP is asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who

witnessed the assault to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
