Experts to Tackle Critical Regional Water Issues

Friday 14 August, Ridley Pavilion, Adelaide Showgrounds


Leading water experts will converge on the Adelaide Showground tomorrow for the Australian Water

Association’s Conference on Friday 14 August.


The conference will feature discussion, debate and presentations on current issues including the new

Adelaide Desalination Project and Aquifer water storage and recovery.


Robyn McLeod, Commissioner for Water Security for South Australia will provide the opening address. 

Ms McLeod was behind the State Government’s recently announced water security strategy Water for Good,

and she will provide insight into how the plan will impact on the local water sector, and business and

community at large.


The conference’s keynote address will be provided by Rob Freeman, Chief Executive of the Murray

Darling Basin AuthorityMr Freeman will speak on the role of the MDBA, it’s programs, and the long-term

sustainability of the Murray Darling Basin. 


The conference will concludes with a debate on the topic "Seawater desalination is a better solution than

stormwater harvesting for Adelaide”. Surely to be an insightful and fascinating debate, the speakers include

John Ringham (COO, SA Water) and Bruce Naumann (Water Systems Manager, City of Salisbury) on the

debate team.
