MINISTER TO ANNOUNCE MILESTONE FOR SMARTGATE
The Minister for Home Affairs, Brendan O'Connor will officially announce the processing of the one millionth passenger through SmartGate, the self processing option for travellers, tomorrow.
This represents an important milestone for Customs and Border Protection who first introduced SmartGate in August 2007 at Brisbane International Airport.
The high uptake of SmartGate is enabling Customs and Border Protection to securely and simply process more travellers while maintaining the existing standards of border security.
