Skip into summer with Jump Rope for Heart

The Heart Foundation is encouraging families to get active together and skip

their way to better heart health this summer.

Eight million Australian children have taken part in the Heart Foundation Jump Rope

for Heart program since it was established in schools in 1983, but skipping is also a

fun way for the whole family to be active together.

More than one in four Australian adults do very little or no exercise at all, while one in

five children are overweight or obese.

“Not getting enough exercise and being overweight puts you at much higher risk of

heart disease,” said Tony Thirlwell, Heart Foundation CEO – NSW.

“Being active is easier than you think and doesn’t have to involve expensive gym

memberships. Skipping is a great way to increase your activity levels and it’s

something you can easily do as a family while having lots of fun at the same time.

“If your kids are already taking part in Jump Rope for Heart at school, they can

probably teach you some great tricks,” Mr Thirlwell added.

During October, the Heart Foundation is offering a special discount on a family pack

of skipping ropes with two child size ropes and two adult size ropes for $19.95

including postage.

To place your order or for other family pack combinations, email

jrfh_nsw@heartfoundation.org.au or call 02 9219 2444.
