ALSTONVILLE BYPASS
CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS ON
WARDELL ROAD
Work to build a temporary road on the side of Wardell Road, south of Ellis Road,
will start on 21 October 2009.
The temporary road will allow for the new bridge and roundabout to be built for
the Alstonville bypass without disruption to traffic.
Work on the temporary road will be carried out in the following stages:
Stage 1 - Wardell Road will be restricted to one lane traffic flow between 21
October 2009 and 26 October 2009, weather permitting.
Stage 2 - Traffic will be switched to the new sidetrack, under one lane traffic flow
between 26 October 2009 and 30 October 2009, weather permitting.
Stage 3 - The temporary road will be opened to two lanes, uninterrupted traffic
flow, on 30 October 2009. Traffic will continue to use the temporary road until the
new bridge and roundabout are completed at the end of June 2010.
Traffic controllers will manage the one lane traffic during work hours, and
automatic traffic lights will be in place after hours.
Motorists are requested to take into consideration possible delays during this
time.
This work is part of the 6.2 kilometre Bruxner Highway bypass project at
Alstonville and Wollongbar.
