CELEBRATIONS GALORE THIS AUSTRALIA DAY AT NRMA MOTORFEST
Wednesday 20 January 2010: NRMA Motorfest in the Sydney CBD will celebrate
its 25th anniversary during next week's Australia Day display of more than 1,000
vintage, veteran and classic vehicles which attracts over half a million visitors
annually.
NRMA Motoring & Services President Wendy Machin said this year's NRMA Motorfest
would be especially memorable as it celebrates a quarter of a century of supporting lovers of classic and vintage cars as well as marking NRMA's 90th Anniversary.
"This year is a milestone for the NRMA in providing 25 years of NRMA Motorfest and as an organisation with 90 years of helping its Members, we are proud to support Australia Day and some of the finest classic and vintage cars from across New South Wales, the ACT and interstate," Ms Machin said.
"The NRMA has more than two million Members who are passionate about their cars
and we are excited to provide a day of fun, festivities and important information on NRMA's extensive range of services and Member benefits."
The NRMA 90th Anniversary Area at the top of Martin Place will trace NRMA's history with past issues of NRMA's Open Road magazine, historical photos, NRMA patrol uniforms and other memorabilia. Visitors can also get a glimpse of what the NRMA may look like in the future.
Vintage car enthusiasts will also appreciate the rare 1904 Innes on display in the 90th Anniversary Area. The impressive looking vehicle was owned by biscuit maker HR Arnott and used in the first car rally between Sydney and Melbourne, the1905 Dunlop Reliability Trial.
Ms Machin said the NRMA was famous for its world class road service and was pleased to now offer Members and their families so much more in the way of motoring and travel products and services.
"During Motorfest new Members can join the NRMA and receive 15 months Classic Care Membership for the price of 12," Machin said.
"The NRMA Member Lounge at the Mint will also have some great offers for Members.
"These are exciting times for the NRMA and NRMA Motorfest is a great celebration of that."
The NRMA Motorfest display commences at 10:00am and runs from Bridge Street to
Park Street and along Macquarie and College Streets.

2010 marks the 25th Anniversary of NRMA Motorfest which attracts more
visitors than any other motoring display in Australia.
Over half a million people will visit NRMA Motorfest and view the showcase of up to 1,000 vintage, veteran and classic vehicles, including the ex-military vehicle display in Hyde Park South near the Anzac Memorial.
Owners are bringing their vehicles from Queensland, the ACT and regional
NSW.
The NRMA Travel & NRMA Holiday Parks team will be at Queens Square to chat to the public about what exciting new adventures and travel services the NRMA can offer. A free gift is available for those who visit their stand and register for email travel updates. A mobile zoo with petting animals will be available between 11:30am and 1:30pm.
NRMA Travel will provide the opportunity to win a $5,000 travel voucher through a joint NRMA Travel, Australia Day Council and 2GB competition. Visit the 2GB web site and describe how you are "Living Australian" to win.
NRMA's newly revamped Mobile Member Centre, which also provides information on different products and services offered by the NRMA, will be on display on Macquarie Street near the NRMA Travel area.
Members of the public will be able to experience the NRMA Careflight simulator
on display outside the Land Titles Office on Prince Albert Road.
Classic Car of the Year unveiling by Colin Bond OAM at 11:00am at the Hyde Park Barracks Forecourt. Also find out how to win driving lessons through NRMA Safer Driving School and view windscreen chip repair demonstrations with NRMA Autoglass.
Vintage Bus Service available: Fleet of vintage buses from the Sydney Bus Museum to operate circular shuttle service through the city, stopping at specially marked stops along George, Alfred, Pitt, Elizabeth, and Harbour streets.
