MEDIA RELEASE

17 December 2009

COMMENT SOUGHT ON FUTURE OF

BRINGELLY ROAD

The RTA is planning for the expected population growth in South West Sydney and will be

releasing a list of proposed changes to Bringelly Road and its feeder roads into the future.

An RTA spokesperson said Bringelly Road was a significant road which will play an

important role in the expected growth in the next 20 years.

“Bringelly Road is about 10 kilometres long and will form part of the arterial transport

corridors within the South West growth corridor,” the spokesperson said

“There will be significant traffic growth in future years due to increased residential and

commercial development.

“To help cater for this growth the RTA has already started an upgrade of Camden

Valley Way and is now seeking community feedback on a proposed upgrade to Bringelly

Road,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the Bringelly Road upgrade would be done in stages in

conjunction with the development of precincts.

“The first step involves planning the road corridor and access arrangements for the future

upgrade and I am encouraging the community to have a say on the RTA’s plans.

“It also involves proposing widening the existing road, closing a number of intersections

and installing new traffic lights,” the spokesperson said.

“The RTA will be mailing residents detailed plans of the upgrades which they can look at

and provide feedback on.

“The RTA has held a community information session on Saturday 12  December and will

be holding a second meeting 19 December 2009.

The second information session will be at the Leppington Progress Association Hall on

Ingleburn Road Saturday 19 December between 10am and 3pm.

The spokesperson said there would be displays set up to outline the access strategy.

There will be displays at Liverpool City Council, the Narellan Motor Registry and the

Narellan Library.

“Bringelly Road is an important arterial link and I would encourage people to have their say

on the future of this corridor,” the spokesperson said.
