WATCH OUT FOR PEDESTRIANS AND TAKE CARE
WHILE DRIVING THIS FESTIVE SEASON
Motorists are being urged to take extra care while driving this Christmas and New Year
holiday period in the Sydney metropolitan area.
We all know the holiday period over Christmas and New Year is a busy time on NSW
roads, an RTA spokesperson said.
Take care, obey the road rules, drive safely and reduce your speed to suit conditions in
areas of high pedestrian activity.
Those celebrating the festive season are encouraged to move around the city and
suburbs safely and to use public transport.
Pedestrians are reminded to use the crossing facilities provided and motorists are
reminded that police will be targeting drink driving throughout December and January, the
spokesperson said.
Motorists are urged to take notice of pedestrians around shopping areas, transport
interchanges, beaches and at the numerous events across the Sydney metropolitan area
throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
There are also a range of road closures and special event clearways associated with
Christmas and preparation for New Years Eve as well as removal of festive season
decorations after the events.
The spokesperson said in Sydney, there will be a number of events which will impact on
traffic.
