MAJOR COUP FOR SHOPPING CENTRE

NETWORKED ELECTRIC VEHICLE

CHARGING STATIONS NOW IN PLACE

The GPT Group’s Rouse Hill Town Centre in north-western Sydney has broken new ground

by becoming the first shopping centre in Australia to install commercial charging stations for

electric vehicles (EVs). Operated by ChargePoint, the two stations are free to users.

ChargePoint CEO James Brown has praised Rouse Hill Town Centre –

owned by one of

Australia’s largest listed

property companies –

for its foresight in providing sustainable

solutions that will benefit its customers.

Mr Brown says “many members of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association live in and

around the area, which is within 50 kilometres of Sydney’s CBD.

“This is an important step in establishing a viable, cost-efficient charging network around

Australia that will be open to all EV users.”

GPT’s Rouse Hill Town Centre General Manager Martin Ollis says the installation of

ChargePoint’s charging stations at the centre is yet another example of how the Group

continues to deliver leading sustainable solutions within its assets.

“Rouse Hill Town Centre is a world-leading sustainable retail development that responds to

the aspirations of its local community and offers first to market concepts.

“With facilities such as public areas, cycle ways and cycle parking, Rouse Hill Town Centre

now boasts the first networked charging stations for electric cars in a retail environment,” Mr

Ollis says.

Operating the charging stations is straight forward and involves use of a free network card,

available from ChargePoint (either online from www.chargepoint.com.au or by phoning 1300

300 885).

As the stations are monitored around the clock, drivers are notified by SMS or email when

their vehicles are fully charged or if there is an issue with the charging.

ChargePoint has also launched a free iPhone app that will enable iPhone users to identify

the locations of charging stations around Australia and help them navigate to those stations.

ChargePoint is the pre-eminent electric vehicle recharging company in Australia, with

charging stations in Sydney and Canberra about to be joined by others in Melbourne and

Adelaide.
