HARWOOD BRIDGE LIFT SPAN CLOSURE
The RTA is carrying out essential maintenance on the Harwood Bridge over the
Clarence River at Harwood.
This maintenance work requires the total closure of the Harwood Bridge lift span from
1 February 2010 until mid 2010, weather permitting.
The closure will affect all water vessels that require the lift span to be raised, but a
new navigation channel close to the southern bank of the river is being used as a
diversion.
The clearance of this span is approximately 8 metres above water level.
A barge-mounted crane is operating around the centre of the bridge. Vessels are
asked to maintain a safe clearance from the barge and observe the hazard signs and
markers.
Road traffic travelling over the bridge will experience minor delays.
The RTA appreciates the patience of motorists and boaties while it completes this
maintenance work.
