MARULAN ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ANNOUNCED
The RTA announced today that a number of road safety improvements will be made in
Marulan on the Hume Highway at the junction with George Street and Medway Road.
An RTA spokesperson said the area was in need of road safety improvements following
seven crashes resulting in 11 people being injured and two people killed since 2005.
Since 1999 there have been a total of 12 crashes at this location.
Work will be carried out to build a triangular island at the exit from George Street on to
the Hume Highway.
This $200,000 safety upgrade, fully funded under the State Governments Blackspot
Program will stop motorists from turning right into and out of George Street and Medway
Road.
Motorists will no longer be able to drive across the highway from Marulan to Medway
Road but the turn from Medway Road to Marulan will not be removed.
Drivers will have a safer alternate route via the Brayton Road underpass to drive safely
across the highway the spokesperson said.
Motorists will still be able to turn left in and out of George Street and Medway Road.
The RTA will be holding two community information sessions at Marulan Community Hall,
George Street Marulan on:
Thursday 19 November 2pm to 6pm
Saturday 28 November 10am to 1pm
The spokesperson said the work is important to ensure the safety of all road users in the
area.
