SPEED REVIEW OUTCOMES ON DISPLAY
OCEAN DRIVE AND HASTINGS RIVER DRIVE
The RTA has carried out a speed review along Ocean Drive and Hastings River
Drive, Port Macquarie-Hastings.
An RTA spokesperson
said the review looked at minimising the number of speed
zone changes to reduce confusion for motorists and improve road safety.
The speed zone changes coming out of the review will go on public display before
coming into effect next year.
The review covered around 50 kilometres of road, and reduced the number of speed
zones from 17 to 15 (excluding school zones).
The RTA has informed the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council of the outcomes of the
review and council will be implementing the changes.
The speed zone review incorporated the entire length of Ocean Drive and Hastings
River Drive, from the Pacific Highway at Kew in the south, to the Pacific
Highway/Hastings River Drive intersection in the north.
People are encouraged to view the display so they are aware of the changes that
will come into effect next year.
Speed limits in NSW are determined by a number of factors including the
surrounding conditions, road alignment, road usage, adjacent development, vehicle
types and volumes, crash history, and the number of access points along the route.
An RTA spokesperson said the Council has arranged for the speed zone changes to
be displayed at the following locations from Thursday 10 December 2009 to 29
January 2010, during business hours.
