Public transport to Derby Day

A train, tram or bus is the best way to get to and from Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday 31 October.

Extra trains and trams will run so that patrons can get to CBD stations and out to the racecourse in plenty of time. With buses on standby and extra staff on the ground and in the call centre, public transport is a top bet for a dream run.

"Despite the large crowds, public transport is the easy option for getting to Flemington and so convenient. A train, tram or bus can drop you within walking distance of the racecourse so you won't have to worry about traffic or parking the car," Metlink CEO Bernie Carolan said.

However, racegoers are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to plan ahead.

To plan your trip to the races, use the online journey planner at metlinkmelbourne.com.au or call Metlink on 131 638.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival is a fully ticketed event. Patrons must pre-purchase their tickets through Ticketmaster or at selected city train stations.
