Public Transport to Oaks Day

3 November 2009

A train, tram or bus is the best way to get to and from Oaks Day at Flemington Racecourse on Thursday 5 November. Special trains and trams will run for patrons heading to the racecourse.

More preparation than ever has gone into getting the network ready for this year's Cup Carnival, so public transport is a great way to go.

To ensure rail capacity on the day Werribee services will run at 20 minute intervals during the period between the morning and afternoon peaks.

"Despite the large crowds, public transport is the easy option for getting to Flemington and so convenient. A train, tram or bus can drop you within walking distance of the racecourse so leaving the car at home makes sense," Metlink CEO Bernie Carolan said.

However, racegoers are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to plan ahead.

To plan your trip to the races, use the journey planner at metlinkmelbourne.com.au or call 131 638.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival is a fully ticketed event. Patrons can't buy tickets at the Flemington gate.
