RESTORATION OF NAMBUCCA RIVERBANK COMPLETE
The RTA completed work this week to control the effects of erosion on the riverbank of
the Nambucca River next to the Pacific Highway south of Nambucca Heads.
The work involved stabilising around 220 metres of the riverbank at two sites located
about four kilometres south of Nambucca Heads.
An RTA spokesperson said the work restored the riverbank and will help prevent further
erosion threatening to undermine the highway.
Large rocks were placed along the riverbank to stabilise the area.
This work will help reduce the ongoing threat to the highway due to erosion of the
riverbank and will reduce the amount of sediment in the river, the spokesperson said.
The project was fully funded by the State Government costing $120,000.
