TRAFFIC ALERT

23 October 2009

SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE AND ROADS

CLOSED THROUGHOUT THE CITY THIS SUNDAY

The RTA is warning motorists of significant changed traffic conditions this

weekend throughout the city and is advising people to use public transport to avoid

delays.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge will be closed between 1am and 1pm on Sunday 25

October and its bridge deck transformed for the Breakfast on the Bridge event,

part of the Crave Sydney festival.

Entry to Breakfast on the Bridge is by ticket only.

Other events in Sydney on Sunday include open days for both the Sydney Opera

House and the Royal Australian Navy as well as the Seven Bridges Walk.

Combined with the Breakfast on the Bridge event thousands of people are

expected to move into the city and Garden Island this weekend.

This will mean significant road closures and special event clearways to help traffic

flow around the Sydney CBD, North Sydney, The Rocks, Millers Point,

Chatswood, Artarmon, Rozelle, Drummoyne and Lane Cove.

Special event clearways mean changed parking conditions for residents and

motorists and the RTA is advising everyone to check where they can park or risk

being fined.

Motorists planning a trip into the city on Sunday can still use Anzac, Gladesville

and Ryde bridges. However, if you are intending to use the Sydney Harbour

Tunnel expect significant delays and allow for extra travel time.

A family fun day pass for $2.50 per person is available which entitles you to

unlimited travel on Sydney's buses, trains and ferries every Sunday. The ticket will

even take you to Newcastle and Wollongong.

For a full list of road closures and special event clearways visit the RTA’s website

at www.rta.nsw.gov.au  or call the traffic information line on 132 701.
