MEDIA RELEASE
23 DECEMBER 2009
SAFETY RESTRICTIONS ON PACIFIC HIGHWAY,
BALLINA OVER HOLIDAYS
To minimise traffic disruption the RTA has introduced temporary restrictions at Teven
Road and Pacific Highway, Tweed Street (Pacific Highway) and Kerr Street
intersections in Ballina.
The restrictions mean turning right from Teven Road on to the Pacific Highway will
not be allowed between 7am and 7pm until Monday, 11 January, 2010.
The restrictions are being put in place as a safety measure during the holiday period.
Long queues of traffic have occurred at these locations in the past during holiday
times.
Motorists wishing to travel south from Teven Road will need to turn left out of Teven
Road on to the Pacific Highway, travel up to the roundabout and then head south.
The
RTA is monitoring traffic flow in Ballina and if conditions deteriorate it may be
necessary to ban the right turn from Kerr Street (southbound) into Tweed Street
(south of the River and Kerr Street traffic signals).
Motorists are asked to obey all temporary signposting and traffic control measures
and to proceed with care through the intersections.
For more information contact the RTAs Traffic Management Line on 131 700.
