SMART CAR FAVOURED BY SPOOKS

The Sunbeam Alpine is a slip of a car that won favour with the likes of James Bond and Maxwell Smart,

Agent 83.  These two Lotharios may have aged, but the car has remained a timeless classic.  Now one of its

breed is being offered for sale by Leski Auctions.

The 1964 Sunbeam Alpine Series IV may be missing some attachments considered de rigueur by any self-

respecting secret agent, such as an ejector seat and exhaust pipe machine gun, but in every other respect it is a

perfect example of the genre.

This particular model features a rare factory hardtop with soft-top and is fitted with automatic transmission.

It comes with some history and an Owner’s Handbook.  It has a recorded mileage of 89,560 km and will be

sold with cancelled Victorian registration.

Lot 37 will be offered for sale by Leski Auctions in association with Brooklands Classic Cars in Melbourne

on Sunday, October 19th at 2.30pm.  It has a pre-sale estimate of $12,000 - $14,000.  In all there are 224 lots

in the Classic Cars and Motor Memorabilia auction.

“The chance to own a car that is closely associated with men of intrigue is made all the more compelling by

its affordable pre-sale estimate,” says Charles Leski.  “The buyer will almost certainly be the only person in

their street to own such a classic and one that is in peak condition.”
