SWAN HILL BRIDGE TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY
The Swan Hill Bridge over the Murray River will be closed for three hours on Sunday,
17 January 2010, weather permitting.
The bridge will be closed to all vehicles between 2pm and 5pm during piling work.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the closure but delays of up to 10
minutes may occur.
Ambulance Victoria will maintain a second vehicle on the NSW side of the bridge in
case of an emergency.
Delays of up to 10 minutes may occur throughout the weekend as workers complete
piling and sheeting work on the Victorian side.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to follow all temporary traffic controls and
signs. A detour will be available via Nyah Bridge.
The RTA is also consulting with stakeholders about planned night closures to
minimise inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians as work is carried out on other
sections of the bridge.
The closures are expected to occur on five consecutive nights each week between
mid February and late March 2010. More information will be provided to the
community as the program of work is finalised.
The RTA thanks the public for its patience while this essential work is carried out.
