NSW's Best Taxi Drivers

The State's nine best taxi drivers have been honoured in the NSW Taxi Council's Taxi Driver of the Year Awards held in Sydney overnight.

"We have found the best drivers in our Industry - those who recognise customer service and who receive a multitude of passenger compliments for their efforts," said Mr Howard Harrison, CEO of the NSW Taxi Council.

"It's been a lengthy search to find our champions, and we thank our independent judging panel, and our sponsors for making the Awards possible.

"These champions are the face of the NSW Taxi Industry the hard working Australians who go the extra mile for their passengers."

The Awards were presented at an Industry dinner attended by more than 300 political, industry and corporate supporters:

* NSW Taxi Driver of the Year, Mr Alexander Tran, Newcastle Taxis ($5,000 cash
and $1,000 UNIGAS)

* NSW Taxi Driver of the Year 1st Runner up, Mr Tony Kervin, Premier Cabs
($1,000 UNIGAS)

* NSW Taxi Driver of the Year 2nd Runner up, Mr Choong Chai Bah, RSL Cabs ($500
UNIGAS)

* NSW Country Taxi Driver of the Year, Mr Noel Schumacher, Casino Cabs ($1,500
cash, $500 UNIGAS and epaulettes)

* NSW Country Taxi Driver of the Year 1st Runner up, Ms Kerri Robinson, Kiama
Cabs ($750 cash and $250 UNIGAS)

* NSW Country Taxi Driver of the Year 2nd Runner up, Ms Christine Davis, Morisset Taxis ($400 cash and $100 UNIGAS)

* NSW Radio Worker of the Year, Mr Van Si Trieu, South Western Cabs ($1,000
cash)

* NSW Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Driver of the Year, Mr Neil Raad, Taxis
Combined Services ($1,000 cash)

* Lifetime contribution Award - Mr Sholmo Ash, Taxis Combined Services
