V/Line adds extra trains for the Airshow this weekend

Extra train services and cheaper tickets are on offer this week to encourage thousands
of travellers to the 2009 Australian International Airshow to leave the car at home.

V/Line General Manager, Ursula McGinnes said 59 extra trains would run to the airshow
during the public display days, on top of the existing frequent Geelong train schedule.

To encourage more train use to this year's event, special train and connecting shuttle
bus ticket prices have also been frozen at the 2007 rate.

"We have extra trains to Lara Station from both Melbourne and Geelong, and there's a
shuttle bus ferrying passengers between Lara Station and the airshow," Ms McGinnes
said.

"You can travel to Avalon and back with a single V/Line ticket, and that means you don't
have to worry about traffic, parking or the cost of petrol.

"The train is the hassle-free alternative to the car, and a great way to get to the airshow."

Ms McGinnes said family tickets (two adults and two children) offered great value at $43
return from Melbourne to the show, and only $18 return from Geelong.

Adults pay only $16 return from Melbourne, and only $7 return from Geelong.

Tickets from Melbourne also include free metropolitan travel in Zones 1 and 2, and
tickets from Geelong allow passengers to travel for free on the Geelong Transit System
(GTS).

Regular (non-airshow) passengers are also advised that as a result of the extra services,
there may be delays of up to 15 minutes to normal trains between Melbourne and
Geelong over the weekend.

Call 136 196 or visit vline.com.au/avalon for more information on ticket prices and the
special airshow timetable.

The airshow public days are from Friday 13 March (2pm) to Sunday 15 March (6pm).

Please note the special V/Line travel offer does not include entry to the airshow.
