VICTORIAS NEW ROAD RULES COME INTO
EFFECT ON MONDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2009

All Victorian drivers will need to be aware of a raft of new road rules which come into
effect on Monday 9 November 2009.
Changes include how drivers can use mobile telephones and visual display units and
where they can make u-turns.
The changes also mean passengers over 16 years will face a fine if they are not wearing
a seatbelt and children under the age of seven must be in an appropriate child restraint.
VicRoads is holding a media conference on Sunday 8 November 2009 to ensure all
Victorians are aware that the new rules are coming into effect.

VISUALS:
VicRoads will have on-site a properly equipped car
to demonstrate how drivers can use their mobile
phones in a cradle or via Bluetooth, how a GPS
device should be affixed to the vehicle and an
example of an appropriate child restraint.
VicRoads will also provide a disk with a variety of
stills, TVCs and diagrams as they relate to the new
rules.
