MEDIA RELEASE
28 JANUARY 2010
WARRELL CREEK TO URUNGA ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
The environmental assessment for the Warrell Creek to Urunga upgrade has been put on display for
community comment.
An RTA spokesperson said the display will allow the community to see
the details of the Warrell
Creek project, which has been developed with extensive community input over the past seven years.
The display of the environmental assessment will provide another opportunity for the public to
comment on the project, before it is considered for planning approval, the spokesperson said.
After the display of the environmental assessment, the NSW Department of Planning will forward all
community and agency submissions to the RTA for consideration. The proposal will then be
assessed by the Department of Planning and considered by the NSW Minister for Planning.
This proposal is part of the continuing Pacific Highway upgrade
delivering safer roads and cutting
travel times.
The Warrell Creek to Urunga project will involve an
upgrade of the existing road to a four lane divided
road. As well as improving road safety and traffic flow for highway users, it will provide relief for
