WEST GATE FREEWAY CLOSURES

Following the successful first ever closure of the West Gate Bridge last night, the
West Gate Freeway will be completely closed to traffic in each direction on the nights
of Saturday 16 October and Sunday 17 October 2010.
The lane closures are required for the erection of a Variable Message Sign (VMS)
which spans the entire width of the freeway. The VMS signs are used the M1
Freeway to inform motorists about road conditions and incidents.
The West Gate Freeway will close at the following times:
Saturday 16 October, 9pm until 9am, inbound and until 4.30am outbound.
Sunday 17 October, 9pm until 4.30am, both directions.
A detour route for the closure is planned and motorists are advised to allow for an
additional 10 minutes of travel time.
The works are weather dependent and will be transferred to the weekend of 23 and
24 October if weather affected.
The West Gate Bridge will close again on Tuesday 19 October from 11pm to 5am.
