World Premiere of Porsche's New Panamera at Auto Shanghai 2009
SHANGHAI, Apr. 20 /PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --
Porsche chose Auto Shanghai 2009 for the world premiere of the brand new Panamera. This
unique four-door Gran Turismo appeared among 15 iconic Porsche cars on a state-of-the-art
exhibition stand, where guests also witnessed the Asia premiere of Cayenne GTS Porsche
Design Edition III, alongside the national debut of the Cayenne S Transsyberia.
Three model variants of the Panamera will be entering the market, each features a powerful
4.8-litre V8 engine and Direct Fuel Injection, with Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe fitted as
standard. The Panamera S accelerates to 100 km/h in only 5.4 seconds using its 400 bhp
power unit, whilst also boasting a highly economical fuel consumption rate of just 10.8 litre/100
km. The Panamera 4S utilises this same engine in conjunction with active all-wheel drive to
reach 100km/h in 5 seconds flat, whilst sacrificing little of its efficiency at just 11.1 litre/100 km.
The top-end Panamera Turbo likewise features all-wheel drive as standard, although new
biturbo technology ensures this model yields a maximum output of 500 bhp and sprints from a
standing start to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 4.2 seconds. Even at this level of performance, fuel
consumption remains an impressive 12.2 litre/100 km. The sleek silhouette of all these
Panamera models also disguises a luxurious and spacious interior, affording ample roominess
with four individual seats, and a variable loading space for storing large quantities of luggage.
Auto Shanghai was also the stage for the Asia premiere of the Cayenne GTS Porsche Design
Edition III, that comes with exclusive Lava Grey Metallic paintwork, bi-xenon headlights as
standard, dark glazed rear windows and unique GTS designation, and the China debut of the
new Cayenne S Transsyberia.
The new Panamera model series will be available in Porsche Centres across China in early
2010. The starting price for the Panamera S is RMB 1,843,000, for the Panamera 4S it is RMB
1,926,000, while the Panamera Turbo begins at RMB 2,490,000. The Cayenne GTS Porsche
Design Edition III will arrive in China this summer, entering the market at RMB 1,893,000. The
Cayenne S Transsyberia, meanwhile, looks set to be released in May, at a starting price of RMB
1,603,000.
