"Kyoto Winter Special 2009" -- a Campaign to Welcome Foreign Tourists in Winter

KYOTO, Dec. 5/ Kyodo JBN-AsiaNet/--
The City of Kyoto launched a campaign Dec. 1 to attract foreign tourists during the winter months when the
city is less congested, allowing visitors to enjoy a tour of the ancient Japanese capital at a leisurely pace. The
"Kyoto Winter Special 2009" drive follows the city's first program of the kind last year. This years campaign
features additional content, including opportunities for hands-on experience in local culture, plus an official
French, Korean and Chinese.

DURATION: From December 1, 2008, to March 31, 2009
FEATURES (supply of the following information):
-Attractive winter events in Kyoto, including the "Hanatoro" street decoration
with lanterns
-Hands-on cultural experience such as Zen meditation, an overnight stay at Buddhist temples, and kimono-
wearing and flower arrangement classes
-Recommended winter menus at Japanese restaurants
-Special services such as a free-of-charge fourth night of stay at inns and hotels, and the upgrade of inn/hotel
rooms
