Caravan and Camping Tourism On Show at South Coast Expo

This weekend from 6-8 November 2009, Mackay Park in Batemans Bay will be home to more than 100 exhibitors displaying a range of caravan, camping and recreational products for a pre-summer sale at the South Coast Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo.

Barry Baillie, CEO of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA) said that as the last caravan and camping event for the year, the South Coast Expo attracts many visitors who are keen to take advantage of pre-summer sales and bargains before summer.

"With more than 100 exhibitors the South Coast Expo offers a variety of recreational vehicles and leisure products to make holiday planning easy."

"Visitors can gear up and plan their next holiday right at the expo with a range of products and holiday parks to choose, just in time for the summer holidays."

Unlike other tourism sectors, caravan and camping tourism has defied recent slow down trends resulting from global financial crisis. Boasting increased interest and steady occupancy rates, caravan and camping tourism is predicted to lead the domestic tourism revival.

"Caravan and camping holidays have experienced a real resurgence with more people turning to value for money holidays rather than choosing expensive holidays abroad," said Mr Baillie.

"Caravan and camping holidays offer something for every budget from five star luxury park cabins through to travel in a quality caravan or motorhome or enjoying getting back to nature by staying in a tent. The breadth of choice is the appeal of our industry."

"We are predicting strong visitor attendance of around 13,000 visitors at the South Coast Expo this weekend as more Australians consider holidays at home and realise the value offered by caravan and camping getaways," said Mr Baillie.

The South Coast Expo will feature displays of caravans, motorhomes and campervans, camper trailers, tents, camping equipment and accessories, holiday and tourist park displays, fishing demonstrations, leisure products and accessories.

The South Coast Expo provides free parking for all visitors and will be open 9am-5pm daily.

Admission costs are $8 (Adults); $5 (Pensioners/Senior Card Holders); Children under 16 years
are admitted FREE.
