First weekend crowds encouraging for caravan and camping sector

Strong first weekend attendance at the NSW Caravan, Camping, 4WD and Holiday
Supershow at Rosehill Racecourse is evidence of a strong and steady tourism market with visitor numbers exceeding expectation.

Barry Baillie, CEO, Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA) says that strong first weekend attendances at the industry's premier caravan and camping show in Australia are positive signs for the future of caravan and camping tourism.

"With around 25,000 people attending the NSW Supershow last weekend (18 and 19 April) we are optimistic that many people are choosing or returning to our industry in search of a memorable and affordable holiday, especially during this current economic slump."

"Caravan and camping tourism has been growing for over 10 years and we are encouraged that the industry seems to be defying the current slow down trends of other tourism sectors," said Mr Baillie.

The NSW Supershow is the largest and most extensive display of caravan, RV and camping products and holiday destinations in Australia, occupying around 53,000 square metres of space at Rosehill Racecourse.

"The NSW Supershow offers something for every budget. From a two person tent through to a $600,000 Winnebago motorhome, you can browse over 400 exhibits and can plan your next holiday away right at the show."

"The NSW Supershow runs until Sunday, 26 April and will stage lots of great entertainment for families for their last week of the school holidays," Mr Baillie said.

"Our ambassador for the NSW Supershow this year is magician, Matt Hollywood, who will make a caravan disappear right before your eyes at the show on Wednesday, 22 April and again on Saturday, 25 April."

"Kids can also get up close and personal with lizards and pythons for the Australian Reptile Park and mum and dad can enjoy performances by Tania Kernaghan who will be singing songs from her new album," Mr Baillie said.

Visitors to the show can browse over 400 exhibitors displaying caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper and tent trailers, fifth wheelers, tents, caravan, camping and 4WD accessories, caravan and holiday parks, tourism stands representing all states and a wealth of other products and services to benefit touring holidays.
