The Imperial Hotel Installs Sharp's New Plasmacluster Ion Generating Unit System for an Air of
Quality
TOKYO, June 23 /Kyodo JBN-AsiaNet/ --
In an effort to provide its patrons with an optimum environment, Tokyo's 119 year-old Imperial Hotel will
install newly developed Plasmacluster Ion generating unit systems in all its 7th floor guest rooms and in its
buffet restaurant, the Imperial Viking Sal, in early July, with other areas of the hotel to follow in the coming
months. The state of the art Plasmacluster Ion technology, developed by Japan's Sharp Corporation, will
allow the hotel to maintain a healthier, cleaner and more ideal caliber of air quality.
Using the existing heating and air conditioning to release highly concentrated Plasmacluster Ions (7,000
ions/cm3), the ions not only strongly inactivate and eliminate airborne viruses, mold and allergens, but also
cigarette odors on curtains and sofas and sweaty odors on clothing.
In addition to its low energy consumption, the new Sharp system requires no dedicated fans, and fits easily
into air conditioning ducts saving space. Units can also be combined to meet the capacity of larger rooms.
The Imperial and Sharp conducted Plasmacluster Ion concentration measurements in guest rooms and the
buffet restaurant in order to arrive at a solution that matches The Imperial's specific needs.
The 7th floor guest rooms in the hotel's Main Building will be available in November, after renovations now
underway. Imperial Hotel, Ltd. is introducing this special feature at its Tokyo flagship in preparation for its
120th Anniversary celebrations and also plans to install the same air quality refinements at its properties in
Osaka and in Kamikochi in the Japan Alps.
